The welcome dinner will take place immediately after the conference opening session. The event will also include a presentation of the Valletta 2018 Cultural Programme. Formal attire (dark lounge suit/formal cocktail dress) is required at this dinner. Anybody not abiding by this dress code may be refused entry.

The networking event will take place on Thursday 23rd November at 2000 hours. The event will take delegates around various areas in Valletta. Delegates may purchase their own drinks and pay on consumption.

The staff at the National Museum of Archaeology, home to the Valletta 2018 conference, will be treating our delegates to an exclusive guided tour of the museum after the closing session.

The closing event will include a brass band concert and will take place on Friday 24th November in Valletta at 2000 hours. The event is structured to allow delegates to network in an informal, community setting. Delegates may purchase their own drinks and pay on consumption.

Section 4 Parallel Sessions

Please put in order according to your preference.

Allocation within your preferred parallel session depends upon availability. If we are unable to allocate you to your first preference, you will be placed in the next available session, depending upon your preference. Selection will be done on first come first served basis.

The themes may be changed slightly following the selection of papers. These will still reflect the below themes.

  • Future cities

By registering to this conference I agree to:
  • Share my email address with other conference delegates;
  • As a speaker (if applicable) I allow use of my presentation and paper in printed and online material, ahead and after the conference;
  • Upload of full papers through password protected web link ahead of the conference;
  • Appear in conference publicity material including audio-visual material;
  • Conference language is English only;
  • Attendance for 18+ only

The Valletta 2018 Foundation (including its Governors, directors, officers, employees, volunteers, representatives and agents) will not be deemed responsible for any loss, damage and/or injury, of any kind whatsoever, whether to person or property, incurred and/or sustained by participants during the ‘Living Cities, Liveable Spaces: Placemaking & Identity’ conference, at one or all of the conference venues or related activities and spaces utilised by the Foundation during the said conference and activities.

Early bird, presenter/student/senior citizens and standard rates cover all conference sessions between Wednesday 22nd and Friday 24th November including opening session, plenary session, parallel sessions and closing session, coffee breaks on all three days and lunches on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th November. The conference rates do not include the opening dinner.
Early bird rate is applicable until the 1st September
Students may be required to present student identification upon registration. Delegates failing to provide identification will be required to pay standard rate difference upon registration at the venue.
Speakers presenting their paper during the parallel session or presenting posters may select the ‘speakers’ rate.
Speakers will be required to register and confirm their attendance by the 1st August. Failure to register by this date will entail paying the standard rate. Failure to send presentation and full paper ahead of the conference, as per dates to be communicated in due course, will entail paying standard rate difference during the conference.
Refunds - In case of cancellation, a 75% refund is applicable until the 1st August. 50% refunds are applicable until the 15th September. No refunds are possible after the 15th September.
